Firstly, please introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Debbie Dunnam, I’m the Chief Commercial Officer at Dropbox and I also serve on two boards, Unit4 and EngageSmart.

What are you looking forward to at Women in Tech Texas?

Well, there are a lot of things, but I’m particularly forward to connecting with an amazing group of talented women in technology so that we can all share the opportunity to network, listen, and learn.

What advice would you give to a woman looking to step up their career in tech?

A couple of things; I would first share - have confidence and be really clear on your priorities and your point of view and most importantly don't be afraid to share them. And then finally the lesson that I learned a long time ago is to embrace the opportunity to do things that scare you.

What do you see as the biggest challenge currently facing women in technology?

We’ve made a lot of progress and so many things have changed in our dynamic industry. I do believe that we need to continue to expand our presence in senior leadership positions, across companies of all sizes, both public and private. But I also suggest as a bit of a counterbalance, that we personally have many more opportunities and choices available to us than I have frankly had ever seen in my tenure in technology, and we should thoughtfully leverage those opportunities, not only for ourselves but for the broader circle of women in technology.

The theme of the event is Resilience, as a woman in tech, what does resilience mean to you?

You know I really think it’s a couple of things - it’s the ability to recover from setbacks but more importantly to adapt well and to actually lead change. I think the best outcome for ourselves and our teams is to keep going even when faced with challenges.
